How to pray when your prayer must be answered
Answering prayers is what God wants to be doing for His children. He said in Matt 7:7,”Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” (NKJV) Furthermore, to prove His willingness to answer all our prayers, He said in Matt 7:1,”if ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”. (NKJV) As a child does not need to do anything special for his father to meet his needs, so also we do not need to do anything special for our father in heaven to meet our needs. Read more...

The benefits of marriage and family counselling
A wise man said, “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail”. People generally, neither like to hear about failure nor do they take pleasure in personal failure. The success of any event, activity or institution is determined, to a great extent, by its preparation. Consequently, Pre-marital counselling provides a solid foundation for a successful marriage. The institution of marriage: why the big failure?
Two people went to a manufacturer and complained that his product failed to work. The manufacturer asked them if they read the manual and the first person said no while the second person said yes that he did read the manual. The manufacturer then asked the second person if he followed the instructions on how to use the product and he answered no that he did not follow the instructions as stated in the manual. The manufacturer looked at them and said, “If you used this product outside the stipulated way, surely it should fail but only in your hands.”
The institution of marriage has instructions on how to make marriages work. Read more

A Christian attitude towards being offended
“It is impossible that no offences should come...”NKJV. Those were the words of Jesus to His disciples (Christians). Offence will surely come whether we expect it or not, whether we are prepared for it or not! Our attitude towards offence determines the effect it will have on us.
People offend God, fellow men at one time or another. Some offend intentionally, while some unintentionally. Interestingly, whether you do what is right or wrong, somebody will be offended. The question is “what should be the Christian attitude towards being offended?” Read more...

Should you tell a relative they're too fat?
I am of the opinion that it is good to tell a relative that they are too fat. It is important to tell the truth to ones relative but in love. Showing love to ones relative also includes correcting them when they are going on the path that leads to pain, sorrow, devastation and ultimately death. They probably know that they are too fat. Comments and hurtful glances from people would have sunk the fact that they are fat into them. Ignoring them in order to avoid hurting them more is certainly not a sign that you care or that you understand how they feel. Sometimes, they will prefer you to tell them than pretending that it is not a problem, but not spitefully like others. They expect honesty and sincerity from relatives. Read more...

Is it your duty to support your elderly parents financially when the need arises?
Supporting my elderly parents financially when the need arises is indeed my duty. It should actually be the joy and desire of every child to be able to support his or her elderly parents financially.
According to Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, duty is something that you feel you have to do because it is your moral or legal responsibility. It is morally expected of all parents to provide the basic needs of their children; to provide shelter, food, clothing, education. Many parents work long hours to be able to provide these basic needs. Some parents go through physical and emotional pain while fulfilling these moral obligations. They do so with the hope that their children will be better off than they were. Read more...
